7 Healthy Shower Habits To Adopt ASAP, Because It’s Never Too Late To Ditch The Bad Ones

While you know that there are good and bad things you can do for your hair and skin, you may not know that there are bad things you do in the shower in general. And it’s not even your fault, because some of them you may not even be aware of. There are a few healthy shower habits you need to adopt if you haven’t already. Old habits die hard, but it’s never too late to make a switch.

Showering seems like the most basic of acts, and it’s generally more what we do for our hair when we get in the shower that we all focus on, but there are definitely some habits that are healthier when it comes to hygiene and your skin that you may not have even realized you were or weren’t doing. There’s a little more to showering than turning on the water, washing, rinsing, and drying. Shocking, I know.

It’s not the end of the world if you’ve followed any bad habits, but once you get in a good routine, it sticks with you for life, so you might as well make changes now. Here are seven healthy shower habits that you should probably adopt ASAP.

1. Change Your Loofah Regularly

Just because you’re getting it soapy and rinsing it, doesn’t mean it’s good to last you for life. You want to change out your loofah every three to four weeks.

A shower isn’t a one-stop shop for washing yourself. You may think you’re getting all clean by using your bar soap on your face, but bar soap can irritate your skin and strip it of natural oils. Instead, just rinse your face with water, or bring your face wash into the shower.

Wrapping your hair in a towel can cause stress and breakage, so instead, gently squeeze out the excess moisture and skip the wrap.

Don’t wait until you go to bed or go to get ready to moisturize. It’s best to moisturize while your skin is still damp to get the maximum benefit.
